Chile outclasses Honduras 1-0
June 16th, 2010 - 8:33 pm ICT by IANSNelspruit (South Africa), June 16 (DPA) Favoured Chile thoroughly dominated Honduras 1-0 Wednesday, notching its first World Cup football victory in 48 years.
Constantly attacking, La Roja could easily have won by a much higher score but squandered many golden opportunities in the teams’ Group H opener.
Forward Jean Beausejour scored the lone goal in the 34th minute when he took a crossing pass by midfielder Jorge Valdiva in front of the goal and hammered it in.
Honduras, playing in only their second World Cup, had to do without the services of injured striker David Suazo.
