Chikka is All India Junior golf champion

Bangalore, Dec 30 (IANS) Local lad Chikkarangappa shot a final round 66 to win the All India Juniors golf title by a three-shot margin at Eagleton here Thursday.Chikka, three shots ahead of Saqib Ahmed overnight, kept that lead intact despite a six-under 66 by the latter. Both carded 66 each. Chikka totalled two-under 286 and Saqib aggregated 289.

The US-based Rigel Fernandes, who excelled on the first two days before faltering on the third, shot a steady 70 and ended third overall in category A.

But Fernandes was the topper in category B, where he totalled 291 and Manu Gandas (75) was a distant second at 304. Shivaren Srinivas (75) was third with 305.

Among girls, Gurbani Singh maintained her supremacy with a card of 71 and a total of 224, while overnight leader Meher Atwal (76) was pushed to second at 228.

In Category C, Prakhar Asawa (73) beat Piyush Sangwan by one shot after both carded one-over 73 each. Asawa totaled 288 and Sangwan 289. Karandeep Kochar (314) was a distant third.

Kshitij Naved Kaul (81) was tops with a three-round total of 241 and Aadil Bedi (81) was second at 249. Digraj Singh Gill (87) was third at 254 in category D.

In Category C for girls, Ankita Kedalya (72) won the first place with 232 while in category D Anshika Singh won with a total of 272.
