try2 Chicago residents are about to witness the 33rd Bank of AmericaChicago Marathon today. It has been reported that almost 45,000 runners are participating in the Marathon who have come from all the states of USA. The crews were busy preparing for the event for the last few days. Till Saturday, the barricades and the fences were being put up. On Sunday, almost 800 cops would be placed along the route of the marathon and they will ensue no untoward incident takes place. Dr. George Chiampas, the Medical Director of Bank of America Chicago Marathon said that the only reason of worry is the warm temperature.

No one associated with the marathon wants a repetition of what happened at 2007. During that year, the high humidity and excessive heat forced the marathon to be called off. Dr. George Chiampas offered valuable preparation tips to the participants of the marathon. To aid the athletes, 21 medical centers have been set up along the route of this marathon. More than 1000 medical volunteers have been kept ready for the event. The weather office has not hinted about a sharp rise in either humidity and heat. The weather will be mostly pleasant throughout the day and the temperature may rise only in the afternoon as they have predicted.

It is expected that out of 45,000 registered runners at least 36000 will participate in it. Russia’s Liliya Shobukhova and Kenya’s Sammy Wanjiru who is the defending champions are also taking part in the marathon. The participants are some what apprehensive and excited at the same time since this is an annual event they wait for.
