Oct 3, (THAINDIAN NEWS) In a shocking revelation and bringing much disappointment to the people of Chicago it was declared that Chicago had lost its bid for the 2016 Olympics. But the person who was most disappointed from the outcome was none other than the Mayor Daley who said that he was “disappointed and shocked” that Chicago had lost its bid to host the 2016 Olympics.
In a what seemed to be a desperate bid which also witnessed the US president Barack Obama flying off to his adopted hometown Chicago to pitch in at the last moment, none could save the debacle. According to the sources, Chicago lost out on the four way race during the first round of voting. In the end Rio de Janerio acquired the honor thus creating a history of sorts, being the only South American country to host the highly prestigious event. The elimination came as a blow for the Mayor who faced severe amount of criticism from the residents of Chicago as he said earlier that Chicago would make up any losses associated with a budget plan of $4.8 million to host the Summer Games.
According to the independent political consultant Don Rose, the failed bid for the 2016 Olympic Games could prevent the mayor to run for re-election is 2011. “Barring something that resuscitates him. He’s damaged goods. He might say ‘Do hell with it’,” said Rose. Questions are being raised that whether the failed venture marks the end of the Daley dynasty or not.
The loss dashes all hopes for Chicago to host the all prestigious Olympics as the International Olympic Committee are planning to move out of the western hemispheres after the 2016 Olympic Games.
