June 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Chicago Blackhawks will be holding a victory parade after their Stanley Cup win on Friday.
The parade will start at 10:30 am at the intersection of Wacker Drive and Washington Street and then turn east towards the Washington Street on Michigan Avenue.
The 4-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers in the final saw the Chicago Blackhawks end their 49 year drought in the history of the tournament.
The night of the victory, thousands of fans took to the streets to party and celebrate the win.
Die hard fan Charles Horn compared the win to an old girlfriend who came back after years to show her love for him. The parade has been announced in spite of security concerns by the Municipal Office of Emergency Management and Communication of Chicago.
The main concern though is the Crosstown Classic contest that will take place in the Wrigley field at 1:20 the same day. The fans may have to choose between their loyalty towards baseball and hockey on Friday. Around 42000+ fans are expected in the prestigious north-south clash.
The parade which begins in the morning will be a great opportunity for the supporters to show their love and respect to their city heroes.
This is the Chicago Blackhawk’s first professional sports title in 5 years and the city is brimming with joy. The security arrangements are already being prepared but the authorities are weary of the two important city events being on the same day and somewhat clashing.
The end result could very well be fans missing the victory parade to watch the baseball game.
