Chicago Blackhawks Loses To Colorado In NHL

291-blackhawks_avalanche_hockeysffembeddedprod_affiliate81 The Chicago Blackhawks was defeated by the Colorado Avalanche in the opening day of Stanley Cup of NHL (National Hockey League) Season. Chicago Blackhawks got a 4-3 overtime defeat to the Colorado Avalanche in the game on Thursday. The hockey fans, supporting the Avalanche, were overwhelmed with the well deserved victory of their favorite team at the Pepsi Center on Thursday evening.

After yesterday’s game, the Avalanche now has a score of 18-6-7 (.694), which made a record of the best opening score in the history of NHL. The team is also 22-5-4 all-time in home openers, which includes a 8-1-2 mark in the Pepsi center alone.

Paul Stastny scored for the Colorado Avalanche with his second goal of the game at 3:40 in overtime, when the Blackhawks had come to a draw level from 3-1. Although Chris Stewart equalized the game in the game till late in the first period, after an early Bryan Bickell tally, the Avalanche took the lead as goals from Matt Duchene and Paul Stastny took the score to 3-1 from the second half. Matt Duchene gave the Colorado Avalanche a 2-1 lead 6:13 into the second and Paul Stastny pulled it to 13:51. Patrick Sharp also made a good effort by leveling at 10:25 in the third period, but it was insufficient as Marian Hossa soon started with the rigorous Blackhawks’ fightback, with a tip-in at 18:24.

Patrick Sharp got the Chicago a score of 3-3 at 10:25 of the third period which sent the game to overtime. But Paul Stastny clinched it for Avalanche after scoring 3:40 into the extra session. This was the fourth time that the two teams confronted each other during the 2009-2010 campaign.
