London, Nov 14(ANI): Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has been ruled out of action for three weeks with a broken rib.
The 31-year-old had sustained the injury when he was kicked in the chest by Manchester United defender Jonny Evans in Sunday’s 1-0 Premier League win at Stamford Bridge.
A initial scan carried out by the club showed that Drogba suffered only bruising after clashing with Man U defender Jonny Evans, but a further X-ray done by Ivory Coast doctors confirmed the worst, The Sun reports.
Drogba, who reported for international duty, will return on Monday for treatment.
His injury will add to manager Carlo Ancelotti’s woes as he has already lost three other first team regulars Ashley Cole, Jose Bosingwa and Frank Lampard to long-term injuries.
Chelsea skipper John Terry is also doubtful after he suffered a knock during England training season ahead on Friday.
The Blues will face the Wolves in the Premier League and FC Porto in Europe before going to Arsenal. (ANI)
