Chelsea squad was not good enough this season: Ancelotti
April 20th, 2011 - 2:20 pm ICT by ANILondon, Apr 20(ANI): Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that his team was too weak this season.
The defending Premier League and Champions League champions are confronting the prospect of finishing this campaign empty-handed.
Chelsea currently trails Manchester United by nine points in the Premier League title race, and has been knocked out of the Champions League.
“I don’t think the squad was good enough this year. At the start of the season, we couldn’t have envisaged having very important players out at the same time - and we struggled to manage that,” the Daily Express quoted Ancelotti, as saying.
“At one point we had to put Paulo Ferreira in at centre-back because we had lost all our other central defenders. You cannot anticipate that,” he added. (ANI)
