Chelsea FC not dead yet, says coach Ancelotti
February 22nd, 2011 - 11:55 am ICT by ANILondon, Feb.22 (ANI): Chelsea coach Carlo Ancelotti does not believe that the club’s 2010-11 season is over, though he knows that he fighting an uphill battle to retain his job after overseeing the worst run of results in the Roman Abramovich era.
Chelsea will face FC Copenhagen in the Champions League tonight and Ancelotti said: “This season is not finished yet.”
“Chelsea has not died, it is still alive. This could be the best season that the club has ever had in its memory or maybe it could be the worst. I don’t know but wait to judge me until the end of the season,” The Sun quoted him, as saying further.
He added: “I have managed in these situations many times. I should remind you that it was the same for me at Milan in 2007. And ask the Italians what happened in that year.”
Ancelotti is convinced his current players have got what it takes to lift the European Cup for the first time in the club’s history despite their desperate form this year.
“Every year the Champions League is the most important title for Chelsea and now it is even more important because we are out of the FA Cup. Our aim now is to try to win the Champions League and to finish in the top four in the Premier League. It is not going to be easy but we have to be focused and do everything we can to try to win it,” he said. (ANI)
