Chandigarh to host its first marathon Jan 31
January 7th, 2010 - 12:25 am ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chandigarh, Jan 6 (IANS) The city will host first Chandigarh marathon Jan 31, an official said Wednesday expectating that the event will see many celebrities participating.
“The marathon will be organised in three parts — five-kilometre, half-marathon and full 42-m marathon. Winner of full marathon and half-marathon will receive a cash prize of Rs. 150,000 and Rs.75,000 respectively,” said Home Secretary Ram Niwas.
A nominal amount of Rs. 100 will be charged for as registration fee which has been waived off for students who wish to take part in the do. But the names of the participants were not given.
An official said they have received confirmation from many world-class foreign athletes, bureaucrats and celebrities.
