Chadha holds nerve to win maiden amateur golf title
November 20th, 2009 - 9:09 pm ICT by IANSAhmedabad, Nov 20 (IANS) Teenaged Abhijit Chadha won his maiden title on the amateur circuit by three shots at the inaugural LG Gujarat Open at the par-72 Kensville Golf Club here Friday.
Overcoming tension and nervousness, Chadha held out for 78 as against Aditya Bhandarkar’s 81 to win the title.
Pune’s Bhandarkar’s second is also his best finish on the tour. Manav Das carded 78 to be six shots further back at 19-over, one clear of fourth-placed Gagan Verma.
Rahul Bajaj and Pawan Kumar shared fifth place, as they finished one behind Verma.
The players will now head to Pune for the LG Western India Amateur, which will be the ninth leg on tour this season.
