London, Apr 30 (ANI): Spanish footballer Cesc Fabregas, who decided to break-up with his childhood sweetheart, is said to have been left devastated by the split.

Fabregas, 23, who broke up with Carla Garcia, 24, who has been his girlfriend for seven years, and who had been tipped by friends to marry him, was said to be “cut up” despite him deciding to end the relationship.

“The decision to end the relationship was more his than Carla’s,” the Sun quoted the ace footballer’s father, Francesc, as saying at the family home in Arenys de Mar, near Barcelona.

“It’s a shame. They had been together for a long time and she was a lovely girl. But Cesc wants to be on his own. He preferred to end things before there were children or things like that,” he said.

Fabregas was already dating Garcia when Arsenal signed him as a 16-year-old from Spanish giants Barcelona, who are currently rumoured to want him back from the North London club for up to 40 million pounds.

“They were perfect for each other. All his friends were convinced it was just a matter of time before they walked down the aisle,” a pal of the pair said.

“Despite the break-up being amicable, Cesc has been pretty cut up about it. They had been together more than seven years and were childhood sweethearts.

“News of the split is bound to fuel rumours he will move back to Spain this summer,” the pal added. (ANI)
