April 3rd, 2011 - 1:58 am ICT by IANSShimla, April 3 (IANS) Thousands of cricket fans gathered at the historic Ridge, an open space just above the Mall in Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, to celebrate India’s World Cup triumph over Sri Lanka in Mumbai.
As Mahendra Singh Dhoni led from the front to take India home, cricket lovers started the celebrations to mark India’s historic victory.
“We have really captured Lanka,” said Anil Sood, a fan.
The fans were also seen singing patriotic songs and carrying the Indian national flag.
Police had a tough time controlling the revellers as they burst crackers and danced to the tune of popular songs.
