Los Angeles, Sept 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Cincinnati running back Cedric Benson has reportedly been handed a three match suspension an off-the-filed incident. The ban is expected to be appealed by the player. If the ban is not lifted, Benson will sit out in the 4th,5th and 6th Week games. He is expected to feature in this Sunday’s game though.

Last July, Benson was arrested for the second time in two summers and that has got him in trouble with officials of the game. He served four days after he got a plea bargain.

The ban will be especially difficult for the Cincinati team because Benson has been one of the bright spots for the team this campaign. Though the team lost in their Week two game against Denver, the performance of Benson was worth noting.

His appeal will undoubtedly affect the image of the game’s disciplinary body. The commissioner of the NFL, Roger Goodell, had spared Titans’ WR Kenny Britt and Tampa Bay’s CB Aqib Talib. The two were involved in incidents when the game was in the lockout.

The lockout threatened the current season of the NFL. It was finally resolved through the legal system before the season started.
