Catania game against Roma suspended due to rain
January 15th, 2012 - 2:38 pm ICT by IANSRome, Jan 15 (IANS) The Italian Serie A game between Catania and AS Roma was abandoned after 65 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch. The match was tied at 1-1 when play stopped.
Catania went ahead in the 24th minute through Nicola Legrottaglie’s goal in the match played Saturday, while four minutes later Daniele De Rossi equalised for Roma.
Catania dominated the first half but missed numerous chances. The conditions deteriorated in the second half as the rain, which had been falling over the Sicilian city all afternoon, made the pitch unplayable. The match had to to be abandoned after 20 minutes into the second half, Xinhua reported.
The Italian Football League is yet to announce when the the final 25 minutes of the game will be played.
