Johannesburg, Jan 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The so-called hermaphrodite Caster Semenya has revealed her plans of returning back to the track. The South Africa’s women’s 800 meters world champion Caster Semenya, will perform on the track in local competitions, her coach told AFP on Thursday. “She is going to run some triple at the Yellow Pages,” a national series that begins on February 19, Michael Seme said. Her coach said that if she wins in the local competitions then she is all set to return to the international arena too.
“You must run well and beat the other South Africans before we are sure that she is going to compete internationally,” he said. He also clarified that even though there was a big hue and cry onto her gender investigation, Caster is a strong person and she never ever thought about quitting. “She never thinks of leaving athletics. She is always willing to run, not quitting,” he said.
The 19-year-old Caster Semenya was a big force on the 800m event in the world championships last August in Berlin, and she had so many hopes pinned on her to take home the title. And she didn’t disappoint her fans and countrymen at all, as she was the 800-meter champion in the World Championships in Berlin. She was virtually a dark horse as she finished the competition 2.45 seconds ahead of the defending champion Janeth Jepkosgei. Before the World Championship she was an unknown athlete but after the race, she was a known figure.
