July 6 (THAINDIAN NEWS) South African runner Caster Semenya has returned to the sport after being accused of not being a female when she continued to blow past the competition as if they were standing still, and making run times which are never seen in the female gender.

It has been said that the nineteen year old could be allowed to return to competition as early as the Junior Word Championships which will be held in Canada this month, since she has once again been cleared to run against other females. Semenya has been on suspension for the last eleven months during the drawn out process of confirming her gender.

“The process initiated in 2009 in the case of Caster Semenya has now been completed,” the International Association of Athletics Federations confirmed. “The IAAF accepts the conclusion of a panel of medical experts that she can compete with immediate effect. Please note that the medical details of the case remain confidential and the IAAF will make no further comment on the matter.” Peter Weiss, secretary of the IAAF said, “”She is a woman but maybe not 100%.”

According to a statement from her lawyers, she is thrilled to be able to compete again. “I am thrilled to enter the global athletics arena once again, and look forward to competing with all the disputes behind me,” she said. Her attorneys had a statement of their own, “We are delighted that Caster is finally being permitted to compete with other women, as is her legal and natural right. Hopefully, this resolution will set a precedent so that no female athlete in the future will have to experience the long delays and public scrutiny which Caster has been forced to endure.”
