New Haven, Aug 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Danish tennis legend Caroline Wozniacki made it four in a row in New Haven when she beat Czech qualifier Petra Cetkovska 6-4, 6-1 in the finals. Incredibly, Wozniacki hasn’t lost a game in New Haven. Her record at the tournament currently stands at 17-0.

In her build-up to the finals, Cetkovska won seven consecutive games. She beat fourth-seed Marion Bartoli and second-seed Li Na. She is the 40th seed in the tournament and she was hoping for a big break in the finals but she found the Dane too strong.

After securing New Haven and reaffirming her dominance at the tournament, the tennis star will now turn her attention to the US Open which begins today (Monday the 29th of August).

The game was played at the outer court on Saturday and with Hurricane Irene quickly closing in, there were fears that the match could be forced inside. After finishing off the game, Wozniacki announced that, “It was nice to play outside, in front of the crowd,” she said. “It was nice.”

The tournament director, Anne Worcester, admitted that she nearly moved the match from the outer court because of the threat of the rain. She said that, “Just a miracle that we got that final in.”
