Caroline Wozniacki advances in US Open
August 31st, 2011 - 10:08 pm ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew York, Aug 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Danish tennis star Caroline Wozniacki says she is taking inspiration from her boyfriend as she tackles the US Open Championship. Her golfer boyfriend Rory McIlroy has won the U.S. Open and Wozniacki revealed that she is looking up to that feat to pick her first title in the tennis version.
Despite having several honors and staying on the top of the ATP female rankings, Wozniacki is yet to win the US Open championship. The tournament has over the years almost stayed as the bonafide property of Serena Williams. The 28th rank American star has won 13 Grand Slams.
Wozniacki plans to be regarded as a big player. After her game yesterday at the championship, she spoke about her boyfriend and winning the tournament. She said that, “You know, he has something I’m looking for and I have something he’s looking for. He wants to be No. 1. So it’s good to have something on each other.”
She has been working on winning the tournament. She revealed that she considered hiring 18-time Grand Slam singles champion Martina Navratilova to be her coach. She said that, “I was thinking about it at one point and we talked and everything, but there were a few things that didn’t work out, and as well on the scheduling.”
