St. Louis, Oct 31 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Cardinals turned the city of St. Louis red when they paraded with the World Series trophy. The Cardinals picked their 11th World Series Championship when they beat Texas Rangers on Friday.

The World Series ended in a dramatic fashion after it was stretched to the maximum seven games. The Cardinals were destined to pick the trophy because they forced the series to Game 7 with a dramatic win at Game 6 last week. The Cardinals turned an almost impossible task on its head and won that game 10-9.

St. Louis Mayor Frances G. Slay told CNN that the outcome of Game 6 handed the championship to the Cardinals. He was quoted by the network as saying that, “Game 6 — we will never forget that. It was hard to believe that was actually unfolding in front of us.”

The triumphant players were paraded to the fans on Sunday. Standing on pick-up trucks, the players waved to the teaming fans who had lined the streets to cheer them.

Outfielder Jon Jay dreams of celebrating the day forever. Carried by excitement, he said that, “I am living the dream. We are celebrating all day.”

Cardinals’ David Freese was named the most valuable player of the series.
