‘Captain, team management not PCB to be blamed for Oz debacle’

Karachi, Feb.4 (ANI): The Pakistan cricket team’s pitiable performance Down Under was due to some flawed decisions taken by the captain Mohammed Yousuf and team management, a former Pakistani first class cricketer has said.

Ahmed Mustafa, who was a contemporary of legendary Hanif Muhammad, said the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should not be criticised for the team’s whitewash in both the Test and one-day series against Australia.

“Why is that in victory no credit is given to the PCB or the selectors and why every defeat was put at the doors of the PCB or the selectors,” Mustafa said.

He criticised the team management, coach Intikhab Alam, Waqar Younis and Aaqib Javed, saying they failed to make the players gel together and play as a team and not as individuals.

“Pakistan team that toured New Zealand and Australia was the best. Almost all the top and the best players were there. The selectors made the best selection but the team failed because the leadership and the team management failed,” The Nation quoted Mustafa, as saying.

He also blasted people condemning the team, and said they were attacking the PCB and the selectors for personal gains. (ANI)
