RIP Captain Lou Albano Mount Vernon, Oct 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The World Wrestling Entertainment Hall of Famer Captain Lou Albano died on Wednesday morning (October 14) at the age of 76, according to the WWE and Wrestler’s Rescue, an organization that helps raise money for retired wrestlers’ health care. For pro-wrestling fans Captain Lou Albano was a larger-than-life colorful figure who through his focused coaching and mentoring helped turn what was once a cable-access sport into a pop-culture phenomenon.

It is still unclear of what medical complications he died off. No clear and definite news was available on this front. Though it was repeatedly made clear that the Wrestler, coach, mentor and actor did not die off cancer.

Albano’s real name was Louis Vincent Albano, and he began his career as a wrestler. Later he found his niche as an focused manager and a challenging coach to several WWF (since renamed WWE) tag team champions, including the Masked Executioners and the Wild Samoans.

Albano appeared in MTV videos with singer Lauper. He also acted in TV shows ranging from “Miami Vice,” “227″ and “Hey Dude” to the movies “Wiseguys” and “Body Slam,” as well as starring in the “Super Mario Bros. Super Show” as Mario. He also briefly managed the long-running jam-rock precursor band NRBQ, who penned a song in his honor, “Captain Lou.”

In the year 2008 he released his autobiography, “Often Imitated, Never Duplicated” with a touching foreword that was written by Cyndi Lauper.
