Capello under ‘tremendous’ pressure before do or die match, says Slovenian coach
June 22nd, 2010 - 5:49 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jun 22 (ANI): Slovenia coach Matjaz Kek has said that his England counterpart Fabio Capello in under intense pressure, with The Three Lions needing to beat the minnows to progress into the last 16 from Group C.
Taking a swipe at England’s troubles, Kek said his Slovenia squad had no problems with togetherness amid claims of dissent and discontent in Capello’s camp.
“It’s very difficult for England. I don’t know what’s happening. We have our own problems but we don’t have problems with togetherness,” The Mirror quoted him, as saying.
“Capello has to live under tremendous pressure, I can’t imagine the pressure he has to live under. England has to beat Slovenia and go through - anything else is unimaginable.
“Before the tournament everyone thought this would be a meaningless match, one for the tourists, but now it’s huge. It’s a very important game,” Kek said.
“Many people expected Port Elizabeth would be a tourist destination for us, and this room would have only three journalists in it. Now it’s a huge match in Port Elizabeth and the room is full of journalists, which shows our achievement,” he said.
“I know what this match means for England. The have to get through the second round. It’s different for Slovenia. Getting through was a goal, now it is a wish, but nothing more. It’s to be or not to be for England, not to be or not to be for us,” Kek added. (ANI)
