Moscow, July 22 (IANS/RIA Novosti) Incoming Russia football coach Fabio Capello is looking for a local assistant, the Russian FA’s acting president said Sunday.

Capello has agreed to take over the Russian national team on a two-year contract, but is unlikely to sign a deal before Thursday, Nikita Simonyan said.

The 66-year-old Italian attended Saturday’s Russian Premier League match between CSKA Moscow and FC Rostov, accompanied by two Russian specialists in former under-20 Russia coach Andrei Talalaev and Nikolai Pisarev, the coach of the under-21 team.

“We will make it as Capello wants,” Simonyan said, referring to the Italian’s Russian assistants.

After spending time with both at Saturday’s match and also Sunday’s game between Zenit St. Petersburg and Amkar Perm, Capello will settle on his candidate, Simonyan said, adding that Talalaev was likely the frontrunner.

“Next week he returns and we will know his wishes,”

“Capello asked that one of his assistants speaks Italian, Talalaev speaks Italian and English. But (Capello) may make another choice.”

Former Venezia sporting director Oreste Cinquini is to be Capello’s technical assistant.

If confirmed, Capello’s first game in charge will be an Aug 15 friendly against the Ivory Coast in Moscow.
