David Beckham London, Aug 29(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello has opened the door for ace midfielder David Beckham to make a sensational return.

The England manager had effectively called time on Beckham’s international career during an interview prior to the 2-1 victory against Hungary at Wembley earlier this month.

“First Beckham has to be playing again, but the door is always open. We’re monitoring all the players. Once he recovers and is in really good condition, we will have a chat,” News of The World quoted Capello, as saying.

“I think the future is with the youth, but after that, I will decide which players to choose. We know the value of the different older players. The future is with the young players because we have to think about the Euros, but no player is out,” he added.

The Italian further said his relationship with Beckham ‘is really good’, and admitted that he had broken a golden rule of his managerial career by telephoning the midfielder to explain the situation.

“I spoke with him on the phone because he was part of the staff at the World Cup. Usually I don’t speak with players, but in this case I spoke with David,” he added.

Earlier, Capello had almost brought curtains down on Beckham’s career by saying that he was probably too old to be part of the team for Euro 2012 qualifiers.

“I say thank you very much for helping me at the World Cup but he is probably, little bit old,” Capello had said.

Beckham was also offered a “farewell to the fans” in a friendly against France.

“He will play one friendly to say bye bye,” he added.

Beckham is currently recovering from a Achilles injury. (ANI)
