Capello defers plans to rate England players as part of an online business venture
May 12th, 2010 - 2:25 pm ICT by ANILondon, May 12 (ANI): The Football Association (FA) has forced England manager Fabio Capello into postponing plans to rate his players as part of an online business venture.
The development came as Capello named the 30 players who will depart for a pre-tournament training camp in Austria in a week’s time.
The Italian refused to answer questions on the controversial Capello Index ratings scheme.
The Sun quoted him, as saying: “I think this, for me, is a press conference about these players. I read what you wrote. I prefer not to comment. I know what you have to do. We decided what we have to do. That’s it, finished, from me.”
FA director of communications Adrian Bevington was forced to intervene when it was pointed out that postponing the scheme was only delaying the potential clash of interest to a future date.
Bevington said: “We are committed to Fabio Capello after the World Cup.
“We had to remove any controversy about the World Cup. We’ve done that for a few months,” he added. (ANI)
