New Delhi, March 2 (IANS) For Canada’s two hockey veterans, Ken Pereira and Rob Short, the ongoing World Cup will be special. The duo Monday earned their 300th international cap against New Zealand here at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium.
The only other Canadian to have set such a landmark was Paul “Bubli” Chohan. Ken and Rob made their international debut in 1994 and have survived 16 years of highly competitive hockey.

Although they have both played in countless international competitions, they never slowed down and are considered among the world’s best midfielders. Rob was named in the 2009 International Hockey Federation All-Star Team and both were in the 2009 Pan American Elite Team.

With their dedication and leadership abilities, they have raised the bar for the Canadian hockey players, and are role models for them.

Ken and Rob are currently playing in the Dutch league. Both were members of the Olympic squad at Sydney (2004) and Beijing (2004). They are playing their second World Cup, having played in the 1998 edition in Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Ken’s most memorable moment was his winning goal against Argentina in the final of the 1999 Pan American Games that also helped Canada qualify for the 2000 Olympic Games while for Rob it was his two goals in the 1998 World Cup game against Germany in 4-4 tie.
