Louisville, Kentucky, May 2, (THAINDIAN NEWS) This is a victory that trainer Todd Pletcher is unlikely to forget in a long time to come. After 24 futile attempts, Todd Pletcher tasted victory for the very first time after jockey Calvin Borel guided Super Saver to a stunning win in the 136th Kentucky Derby on Saturday. The spectators at the biggest racing event in the United States waited with skyrocketing anticipation during the final moments of the race on Saturday when finally the Kentucky bred Super Saver crossed the finishing line after being in one of the most spectacular fashions by Calvin Borel.
After the long wait of almost a decade when trainer Todd Pletcher and much acclaimed jockey Calvin Borel finally lifted the gold Kentucky trophy, it indeed must have an extremely special occasion for the trainer. However, for the 43-year-old jockey, this was hardly his experience of tasting victory at the Kentucky Derby as this was his third triumph in the race in four years. While addressing a news conference soon after the event, Todd Pletcher added that he had dreamed all his life to register victory in this race and now finally when he has been able to achieve success here, he said to did not know how to feel or what to say.
At the same time, the trainer also had words of appreciation for the jockey Calvin Borel and went on to describe him as a great rider wherever he goes but pointed out that at Churchill Downs he was exceptionally good. The trainer further emphasized that at Churchill Downs, Calvin Borel was well acquainted with the track and got along with his horse in a beautiful manner.
