Jan 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) It was a great day for Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin, as for the first time, they emerged winner as a couple, in the US Figure Skating Championships 2011, in the Pairs: Free Skating, at the Greensboro Coliseum. It was even more overwhelming for John Coughlin, as for long, he has been suffering from tremendous mental trauma, after his mother’s demise last February. The mishap even made him think about quitting his passion, but somehow, their victory has charged them up to compete at the international level.
Caitlin Yankowskas and John Coughlin earned a remarkable score of 124.15. John Coughlin said that while he was skating he could feel the presence of his late mother, although she was not physically present. He added that she would have been extremely happy to know about his achievement. However, initially John Coughlin was quite apprehensive about participating in the competition as he was emotionally stressed, but somehow he changed his mind. Caitlin Yankowskas was equally happy with her joint victory with John Coughlin. She said the both of them have worked quite hard to win the competition. To her, it was physically demanding, but emotionally it was even tougher to deal with. She and her partner did not make the effort for getting the best marks or winning the competition, they just wanted the others to know what they have been through emotionally. Now that they made it, they feel proud of themselves.
Last year, in Spokane, Washington, this couple emerged as the fifth runner up. Their remarkable improvement was quite visible as they danced swiftly on the ice with their graceful moves. Yesterday, the other winners of the two other titles were, Meryl Davis and Charlie White for ice dance title, and Alissa Czisny for the Ladies: Free Skating.
