Oct 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Brock Lesnar vs Cain Velasquez title match, UFC heavyweight championship, yesterday night, resulted in the Mexican American fighter’s victory. Cain Velasquez was overwhelmed with his newly achieved championship status, and said that he would continue to represent Mexico in the future too. He won $70,000 for winning the Knockout, at Honda Center Anaheim, California.
Some of the experts thought that Brock Lesnar would make it as a winner, considering his the manner in which the bout commenced. However, his initial bull-rush and take-down strategy, was not of much help as it backed up Cain Velasquez’s relentless ‘ground and pound attack’. The Challenger and quite amateurish Cain Velasquez, adopted a stunning strategy, where he did not let his opponent to display even the slightest of his mastery. It took just 4 minutes and 12 seconds for him to snatch of his belt and thrill his large number of fans.
Cain Velasquez said that he was extremely tensed before facing Brock Lesnar, and his tension led to some of the violent moves in the fight. He said that it was quite difficult for him to assess where to throw his punches and where to throw his elbows, as Brock Lesnar combated him pretty well. Cain Velasquez said that he could feel his strength, and got all more tensed to constantly remind himself about remaining cool, throughout the fight. However, he could only relax after that take-down Brock Lesnar got on him.
His next challenge would be with Brazilian Junior Dos Santos, who he considers to be the best stand up fighter. Cain Velasquez, who was otherwise treated as an amateurish, feels that he has a lot to prove, and he needs to keep up the fight. His victory is expected to promote UFC in the Latino Market, says a source.
