Cahill completes Chelsea switch
January 14th, 2012 - 7:45 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Jan 14 (IANS) England defender Gary Cahill Saturday completed his long awaited move to Chelsea from Bolton Wanderers on a 7 million pound deal.
Cahill is regarded as one of the top central backs in the country and will get to team with England teammate John Terry in defence.
Bolton had already accepted Chelsea’s offer but it took the London club close to two weeks to agree on personal terms with the defender. The 26-year-old had initially wanted Chelsea to pay him a salary of 100,000 pounds a week but the two parties finally agreed on 80,000 pounds.
Bolton will surely miss their star defender when they play Manchester United this week. Cahill will probably start for the Blues in front of home fans when Sunderland come visiting.
