Sydney, Feb 15 (ANI): The Pune terror attack has once again brought back the spotlight on security during the Indian Premier League, with Cricket Australia investigating the attack and threat posed to their players while they play in India.

Nine people were killed and up to 57 injured on Saturday in the blast at a tourist eatery in the first terrorist act in India since the Mumbai attacks in November 2008.

Australian cricket’s security adviser Reg Dickason will make his recommendation to Cricket Australia and the players’ association at the end of the week.

The players appearing in the IPL will not be representing their countries; CA and the Australian Cricketers’ Association can only dole out their security advice and leave the final decision to the players.

“Our independent security company is investigating what impact this attack may have on our players participating in the IPL, so we’re waiting for that advice,” ACA boss Paul Marsh said.

“It is a very tragic incident. It will be one of the many considerations they take into account in taking a position as to whether it is safe to go to India,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him, as saying.

Security was upgraded for India’s Test match against South Africa, which started in Kolkata on Sunday.

Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs did not upgrade its travel advice following the Pune terror attack.

IPL chairman Lalit Modi took his usual stance at news of the bombings, declaring on his Twitter page: “We will not be terrorised. United we will stand.” (ANI)
