Button warns McLaren rivals of backlash after mixed 2010-11 start
April 15th, 2010 - 10:45 am ICT by ANILondon, Apr.15 (ANI): Formula One champion Jenson Button has warned McLaren’s rivals that they can expect a backlash after a rollercoaster start to the 2010-11 season.
Button won in Australia, but came seventh in Bahrain and eighth in Malaysia. Team-mate and Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton came third in the season-opener in Manama and managed to finish sixth in both Melbourne and Sepang, reports The Sun.
Button said Sunday’s Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai could see a turnaround in McLaren’s racing fortunes.
“Shanghai is a good drivers’ circuit, while also being a place that benefits from a well-balanced car. I’ve made real progress in that area. The feeling is that we’re moving forward, which is always positive,” Button was quoted, as saying.
Button and Hamilton lie just four and eight points adrift respectively of early championship leader Felipe Massa, but McLaren chief Mike Whitmarsh wants more. (ANI)
