Butler University Basketball Coach Successfully Battles Breast Cancer

Nov.27, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Beth Couture, coach of the woman’s basketball team at the Butler University has emerged as an inspiration to her players as well as the other university students after she managed to give tough competition to breast cancer and as a result successfully fought against the deadly disease. The 47 year old coach was diagnosed with breast cancer in the month of April this year and since then began her battle with the disease which was ready to claim her life.
Beth began her treatment soon after which entitled her to go through numerous sessions of chemotherapy. Although, these sessions are known to take a toll on the patients as they inevitably fall sick, Beth with her indomitable spirit managed to remain strong throughout these sessions without even vomiting until the last session.
The coach realized for the first time that something might be wrong with her when she discovered a persistent lump. Although, initially she did not take it seriously, her worst fears were came true when she went for a biopsy at the St. Vincent Hospital where doctors confirmed that her cancer was at the second stage. However, as a ray of hope it was also revealed that is treated properly, Beth could recover completely and go back to her normal life.
Apart from the radiation, Beth underwent a mastectomy in the month of September and finally the radiations ended earlier this month. Soon later, having successfully defeated the deadly disease, Beth was back on the sideline as the coach of her team. The experience was all the more overwhelming for the coach as she knew that she could have easily missed being there.
