Bryce Harper: A Star Already?

bryce-harperThe first overall pick by the Washington Nationals this year has created ripples on the web and the MLB world alike. Bryce Harper has been the center of media attention after his selection. The player who is presently a catcher in the College of Southern Nevada is expected to develop into an outfielder according to the team officials.

GM Mike Rizzo said immediately after the selection that he is very pleased to welcome Bryce Harper into the Washington National’s family.

He said that the Washington National’s officials monitored Bryce Harper for two years and are excited to have a player like him into the team in the next few years.

The Director of Scouting Kris Kline also showed similar sentiments and added that he has seen Bryce Harper play around 20 games and almost 80 at bats. He said that he has the potential to become a three hole hitter and hitting from the left side is always an advantage.

He assured the media that Bryce Harper will be a very exciting player to look out for.

The reputation of Bryce Harper as quite a cocky player who has in the pat opposed pitchers and umpires has not bothered the officials. Bryce Harper was even ejected from the National Junior College World Series last week for showing dissent at the Umpire’s decision.

GM Mike Rizzo was quick to brush aside all the reputation talk about Bryce Harper as he said that they rely on him and his capabilities completely and that a 17 year old ought to behave like one at times.
