Ashburn, Va., Dec.18, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Bruce Allen has been hired as the general manager and the executive vice president of the professional football team Washington Redskins on Thursday. However, this is not the first association of the 53 year old coach with the Redskins as his legendary father George Allen coached the Redskins from 1971 to 1977. The appointment was all the more significant as he was the first person to be recruited by owner of the Washington Redskins Daniel Snyder in the position of General Manager.
Bruce Allen was hired for the position following the resignation of Vinny Cerrato, who held the position of executive vice president for the past two years. The recruitment of the new general manager is said to be the first in a series of changes that are presumed to be lined up for the Redskins. According to certain reports, the team is also expected to hire a new coach in the near future.
Meanwhile, Daniel Snyder has revealed in a statement that he believes that Bruce Allen is the right candidate for the position and he also expressed full faith in his capabilities. It has also been added that the new general manager would assume his responsibilities immediately.
At the same time, Bruce Allen who has earlier worked with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for about four years, added that he was delighted with the new opportunity and emphasized that he was really looking forward to work with the Redskins. Meanwhile, prior to his engagement with the Tampa Bay, Bruce Allen had also been associated with Oakland Raiders.
