Broad sympathises with injured Flintoff on missing IPLApril 27th, 2009 - 1:33 pm ICT by ANI
Cape Town (South Africa), Apr.27 (ANI): England all rounder Stuart Broad has sympathized with injured Andrew Flintoff and understands why he has given the Indian Premier League and the upcoming series against the West Indies a miss.
Flintoff will undergo surgery on his knee on Monday and is expected to miss the Indian Premier League and the West Indies series, which begins at Lord’s next week.
Speaking about Flintoff, Broad, a key member of the England squad, told The Telegraph: “It is unfortunate he got injured and people talk about workloads but he would probably have bowled more overs if he had stayed here and played for Lancashire rather than the IPL.”Broad, 22, further said: “The workloads are huge now and that is what the ECB have spent a lot of time developing strength and conditioning coaches and doing a lot of work on that.”
“I don’t eat fast food, I have an occasional drink, but it is about building up good habits,” he added.
“I’m lucky because the information is there for my generation. Fred started in 1997 and I doubt if you had that kind of back-up then.”
“When I decided against the IPL, I just did not want to do anything that would threaten playing in the Ashes,” he said. (ANI)
