Broad signs fresh deal with Notts
April 13th, 2011 - 10:32 am ICT by ANILondon, Apr. 13 (ANI): England fast bowler Stuart Broad has signed a new three-year contract with his English county side Nottinghamshire. The deal will only come into force in the unlikely event of Broad losing his England central contract, but keeps the 24-year-old committed to Notts at domestic level until 2013.
The Sun quoted Notts Director of Cricket Mick Newell, as saying: “We fully expect Stuart will maintain his England place for years to come but this re-affirms his commitment to us. We knew he was in the England selectors’ thoughts when we signed him in 2008.”
“Although his county appearances have been limited, he has always performed exceptionally well when he’s turned out for us,” Newell added.
Broad’s spell at Trent Bridge has seen him play just seven County Championship games and four more in limited-overs competition, including last year’s T20 finals day.
He returned home from the England squads in both the Ashes and World Cup this winter. (ANI)
