Brisbane Open: Hantuchova in finals after Clijster retires
January 6th, 2012 - 6:37 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Brisbane, Jan 6 (IANS) Four-time Grand Slam winner Kim Clijsters pulled out mid-way with an hip injury in her semifinal tie against Daniela Hantuchova in the WTA Brisbane International tennis tournament at the Patrick Rafter Arena here Friday.
Clijsters who is yet to lose a match on a Brisbane court, came back from 1-4 down to take the first set 7-6 in a tie-break. World No.24, Hantuchova was quickly off the bock in the second set as well taking a 3-1 lead, however 2010 tournament winner Clijsters conceded the match after a medical break showed her suffering from an injury to her left hip.
Hantuchova will face the winner of the second semifinal between Italian Francesca Schiavone and Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.
