Charlotte, N.C, May 14,(THAINDIAN NEWS) Brian Vickers of Red Bull Racing will miss out on this weekend’s NASCAR competition at Dover International Speed way. Brian Vickers was reportedly hospitalized on Wednesday due to an undisclosed medical condition. Brian Vickers was scheduled to race for Red Bull Racing on Sunday for the Autism Speaks 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup. Racer Casey Mears, who is also a part of Red Bull Racing, will be replacing Brian Vickers for the No.83 Toyota. This ends Brian Vickers streak of 218 consecutive starts which dates back to 2003 in Atlanta.
The Red Bulls Racing have issued a statement saying that Brian Vickers is undergoing tests and further evaluation for his diagnosed medical condition. Team manager Frye has called his illness a ‘minor setback’. But this ‘minor setback’, almost rules out Brian Vickers from the 12th chase qualification this season. The 26-year-old Brian Vickers has two career cup wins and has made the 12-Driver Chase for the championship last season. Placed 20th in the Sprint Cup standings Brian Vickers was an important member of the Red Bulls racing team. The racer started out as a go-kart racer in 1994 and went on to win 80 races in the World Karting Association. In 2000 he moved to USAR ProCup and won two races. The next season he won 5 races and finished 2nd in points.
Manager Frye said in his statement that the main concern for Red Bull Racing at the moment is Brian Vickers Health. He is also hopeful that Casey Mears who will be filling in his place this weekend will represent the team well. Though the location of Brian Vickers Hospital has not been revealed, he was scheduled to visit Walter Reed Army medical centre on Thursday.
