Brazilian woman volleyballer robbed
June 5th, 2011 - 12:17 pm ICT by IANSRio de Janeiro, June 5 (IANS) A member of Brazil’s women’s national volleyball team and her husband were Saturday allegedly held captive inside their car in Rio de Janeiro and robbed of everything they had, Xinhua reported.
When Paula Pequeno and her husband were returning to their car after shopping at a mall, an armed man ordered the couple to enter their car. Once inside the car, the man demanded that the couple hand over all their possessions and money, the volleyball player said.
Penqueno said this sort of thing should not take place in a city that will be host to the 2016 Olympic Games.
She said she hoped to catch the attention of the Olympic committee in order to beef up the city’s security and prevent future incidents.
Penqueno reassured the public and her fans that both she and her husband were not injured.
