Boxing judge Lou Filippo dead at 83 years

Los Angeles, Nov 3 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Californian boxing judge and referee Lou Filippo died at the age of 83 in Los Angeles on Monday.
He started out as a professional boxer who fought as a lightweight from 1947 to 1957 in Southern California. During his amazing decade-long career, his professional record was 23-9-3 with 8 KOs. Lou Filippo was also honored, with an entry into the World Boxing Hall of Fame for his laudable efforts in the boxing arena. He was listed in the Expanded Category” (Referees & Judges & Timekeepers) in the World Boxing Hall of Fame . He was also inducted into the John C. Fremont Hall of Fame. In 2005, he became an inductee into the California Boxing Hall of Fame.
In the mid 1970s, he began to referee and judge the boxing sport, at the suggestion of Olympic Auditorium promoter Aileen Eaton.
He also gave several television and film appearances, including parts as a referee in several of the ‘Rocky’ movies.
He was married to Pat and is the father of Debbie and Patty.
