June 25, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Avery Bradley Jr. has officially become 19th pick of Boston Celtics in the 2010 National Basketball Association draft. Boston Celtics after losing Game 7 from Los Angeles Lakers in the Finals needs a player on the wing and on the front court. There were number of players available to fill in the gap of those positions but Boston Celtics general manager, Danny Ainge chose Avery Bradley to back up Rajon Rondo at that position.
Boston Celtics’ coach Doc Rivers has said that Avery Bradley has speed and he loves the game displayed by this 19 years old, 6 foot 3 inches and 180 pound player. He also added that Avery Bradley can make the spot up jump shots and that he can play point guard defense on anybody which is going to be a huge benefit for the team in future. Avery Bradley averaged 11.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.1 assists in his lone season with the Longhorns before. However, it is seen that, his addition to the team can be a sign that Nate Robinson might not return in the team again.
Avery Bradley, as a high school junior was named the national player of the year and the No. 1 prospect in the country. The player is excited to be a part of Boston Celtics and he said in an interview that he would love to be one of the top defenders of the team and his goal is to get the award of ‘Rookie Of The Year.’ Avery Bradley will not be able to play in the Orlando Summer League with Boston Celtics due to his ankle sprain but it is expected that he will be able to play at the end of this summer.
