Hyderabad, Oct 5 (IANS) England batsman Ravi Bopara is confident of his team continuing the winning momentum against India by clinching the one-day series, beginning next week.

“We are here to win and we want to continue winning. An international team tries to win every single game it plays,” Bopara told reporters here Wednesday. England will clash with India in the first match of the five-match series here on Oct 14.

The English side is touring India close on the heels of their 3-0 win in the one-day series back home last month.

Stating that the team has a talented bunch of players, the middle-order batsman believes India tour is an opportunity for them to prove themselves.

“The youngsters are trained and geared up to perform in any conditions,” he said.

Bopara said his career-best knock of 96 against India in the tied fourth one-day at Lord’s gave him the confidence and made him mentally tough.

“It certainly gave me the confidence to go into this upcoming series. Not only the upcoming series, it has given me an overall confidence now to work for my future as well,” he said.

Bopara said though he enjoyed bowling especially in Twenty20, batting was his main strength. He said he would like to concentrate on his batting to cement his place in the team.

He feels facing spin and chasing big totals would be the biggest challenge for him.

“Spin will play a big part in India. We have to wait and see what type of pitches are prepared here. Biggest challenge will be facing spin, besides chasing big totals,” he said.
