Bopanna-Nieminen lose in Delray Beach quarters
February 28th, 2009 - 7:43 pm ICT by IANSDelray Beach (Florida),Feb 28(IANS)India’s Rohan Bopanna and Jarkko Nieminen of Finland put up a spirited fight but could not stop fourth-seeded pair of American Eric Butorac and Bruno Soares of Brazil from entering the $500,000 Delray Beach International Tennis semi-final.
The Indo-Finnish pair rallied from a set down but were subdued in the super-tie break, losing 6-4,3-6, 8-10.
Butorac and Soares will now play top seeded Bryan brothers, Bob and Mike, who overcame a strong resistance from fellow Americans Scott Lipsky and David Martin, to win 7-6(7), 3-6,12-10.
For their quarter-final appearance, Bopanna and Nieminen will get $3,900 and 45 points.
