Bopanna, Hsun reach Tashkent quarterfinal

Tashkent, Oct 13 (IANS) India’s Rohan Bopanna and Hsun Yen Lu of Chinese Taipei scraped past Deniss Pavlovs of Latvia and Vaja Uzakov of Uzbekistan to move into the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles event of the $125,000 Tashkent Challenger tennis.
The second seeded Indo-Taipei pair survived a match point, trailing 9-10 in the tiebreak, to beat Pavlovs and Uzakov 6-4, 6-7(3), 12-10 in an hour and 20 minutes to enter the last eight Tuesday.
The other Indian pair of Somdev Devvarman and Purav Raja fell to the Spanish pair of Inigo Cervantes Huegun and Guillermo Plaso 6-3, 3-6, 4-10 in the first round.
