Bollywood stars to grace Indian Football Awards

Kolkata, Sep 20 (IANS) The third edition of the Indian Football Awards organised by the Football Players Association of India (FPAI) will be hosted in the city amidst a glittering ceremony graced by Bollywood stars and sports icons.
“The award ceremony will be a very colourful event with host of actors and actresses from the film industry as well as past and present sports stars,” said iconic Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia who is also FPAI president.
The award ceremony will be held Sep 26 at a city hotel. Players have been nominated in six categories and would be chosen on the basis of votes given by current players. A player can vote only once and for only those players who do not belong to his club.
Elaborating on the event, former India footballer and current East Bengal winger Alvito D’Cunha said: “The event will be one to remember. Actors like John Abraham, Rahul Bose, Minissha Lamba, among others, would be present. The players would also take part in a fashion show.”
Bhutia and D’Cunha were in the city to announce the nominees for the various categories of awards.
The categories include best young player, best foreign player, best Indian player, best coach, best fans player and fans player of the Asian Cup. The winner of the last two categories is to be decided through online voting by fans.
