Bollinger says he is fit to play in IPL
April 5th, 2011 - 5:12 pm ICT by ANISydney, Apr 5 (ANI): Australian fast bowler Doug Bollinger has said he is fit to play for defending champions Chennai Supoer Kings when the Indian Premier League starts this week.
Reports emerged last week suggesting Bollinger had not recovered from the foot complaint, which forced him to withdraw from Australia’s World Cup campaign.
The 29-year-old left midway through the tournament with a posterior impingement in his right foot, but he avoided surgery and was able to get through a testing session last Friday to prove his fitness.
The reports indicated Tim Southee would take Bollinger’s place but the left-armer said the Kiwi would be his teammate, rather than his replacement.
“I had a bowl last Friday and came through the session with no pain at all,” The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bollinger, as saying.
“Since being back in Australia I’ve followed my doctor’s instructions to the letter and we’re really happy with how the ankle has responded. All going to plan I hope to be [fit] for game three, if not sooner,” he said. (ANI)
