Bollinger eyeing big impact in Sydney Ashes Test to hit back at critics
January 1st, 2011 - 12:02 pm ICT by ANISydney, Jan 1(ANI): Australian fast bowler Doug Bollinger has said that he would make a big impact if included in the final eleven for the fifth and final Test against England, starting in Sydney on Sunday.
Dumped after a tired display in Australia’s innings and 71 run loss in the second Test in Adelaide, Bollinger has been called back into the squad in place of injured Ryan Harris for the Ashes finale.
The left-arm fast bowler had managed only 1-130 from 29 overs in England’s sole innings in the match.
“It’s my favourite place to play, the SCG,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Bollinger, as saying.
“I probably didn’t have my best game in Adelaide so it will be good to come out and get some wickets in Sydney and get the media off my back,” he added.
The 29-year-old was Australia’s most consistent Test bowler last year until breaking down in India with a stomach strain in October.
Since his axing, Bollinger has played one-day and Sheffield Shield matches for New South Wales during which he picked up a six-wicket haul. (ANI)
