Oct. 28 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Blake Austin Griffin just does not know when to stop. After suffering a knee injury during practice session he was playing on court within two weeks and not resting like he should have. This essentially resulted in a stress fracture, damaging his left patella which is going to leave him on the bench for the upcoming six weeks. Blake, also known as ‘Amazin’, has been told to take it easy for awhile. He has to rest, giving time for his knee to heal. He will also be receiving therapy, bone and electrical stimulation and blood treatments. The whole process could take more than a month and he plans to exercise by swimming during that period.
The no.1 overall, was in the Playa Vista training complex on Tuesday, when he commented on his injury. He said that the whole thing was disappointing but that he wont feel sorry for himself. “Everybody plays with a certain amount of pain, but it is a fine line, because you do want to take care of your body and make it easier on yourself”, he further added. The match between the Clippers and the Lakers was watched by him from the stands. During the morning practice also he was present, without any knee protection.
His coach said that the healing time will be ‘frustrating’ for him, ‘but hopefully instructive for a power forward whose relentless work ethic sometimes leads him to rush his recovery time and even play through pain unnecessarily.’ The player has suffered other injuries in his past including the sprained MCL in 2008, a torn cartilage in 2008 and a concussion on Feb 2009.
